How we collect and use feedback on your training

We automatically ask apprentices and employers to give us feedback on your training.

We start asking for feedback 3 months after the start of the apprenticeship. We’ll keep asking for feedback throughout the apprenticeship.

Why we ask for feedback

We use this feedback to help employers when they’re choosing a training provider.

Employers will see the feedback you’ve received on the Find apprenticeship training service.

When an employer looks up a course you offer, we’ll show your:

  • scores from apprentices

  • scores from employers

The scores we show are based on the last 5 academic years of feedback you’ve received.

If an apprentice or employer gives you feedback more than once, we’ll only use their newest answers to calculate your scores.

What feedback you’ll get

From apprentices

First, you’ll get an overall score from apprentices. To get this, we ask apprentices to rate your training from very poor to excellent. We show this as a star rating out of 4.

Second, you’ll get a separate set of ratings showing whether apprentices think individual parts of your training are to a reasonable standard. These include areas like:

  • the structure of your training

  • your communication with apprentices

  • how you take into account an apprentice’s prior learning

We’ll show these ratings as a bar chart.

If you can't see any feedback from apprentices, this is because we wait for 5 apprentices to give feedback before showing their ratings. This is to protect the identity of apprentices who share their opinion.

From employers

First, you’ll get an overall score from employers. Like apprentices, we ask employers to rate your training from very poor to excellent. We show this as a star rating out of 4.

Second, you’ll get a separate set of ratings showing what employers think are strengths or areas for improvement. Areas that employers can pick from include:

  • your training facilities

  • how you do initial assessments

  • your communication with employers

We’ll show these ratings as a bar chart.
