Funding reservation limits
From January 2020, smaller employers that do not pay the apprenticeship levy can reserve funds for up to 3 apprenticeship starts on standards. They cannot reserve any funds for frameworks.
At the moment, there’s a total reservation limit of 15,000 apprenticeship starts between January and March 2020 for the whole of England. If we go over this limit, we may stop you from reserving further apprenticeship funds on the apprenticeship service.
We’ve introduced reservation restrictions to make sure that funding for apprenticeships is affordable within the government’s overall budget for apprenticeships. We will continue to monitor the number of reservations and may limit or increase the number available in the future.
This will not affect any funding that you have already reserved.
How we’ll let you know
If you’ve already reserved funds for 3 apprenticeships or we reach the overall reservation limit, we’ll tell you when you try to reserve more funds.
If you need to change the apprenticeship, you can change it when you select 'add apprentice'.
